2013 Chase Freedom 5% categories

Chase has just announced the 2013 calendar for it’s 5% rotating cash back categories:
The Chase Freedom card should be part of everyone’s permanent credit card collection.  Every quarter, Chase releases a different set of 5% cash back categories.   This allows you to quickly multiply your points earning potential whenever you make a purchase with your credit card.

What Chase describes as 5% cash back is really 5x the ultimate rewards points per purchase in each category.  Each rewards point is worth 1 cent, so 2,000 rewards points would equal a $20 check or statement credit for you.
If you have a premium Chase credit card such as: Chase Sapphire Preferred, JP Morgan Palladium, JP Morgan Select, Chase Ink Bold, or Chase Ink Plus, you can transfer ultimate rewards points to various programs including United, Southwest, British Airways, Korean Air, Amtrak, Hyatt, Priority Club, Marriot, and Ritz Carlton.  These transferred ultimate rewards points can be worth more than 1 cent per point.

Spending in each of the 5% categories will earn 5x ultimate rewards points until you reach $1,500 of spending.  Afterwards, each purchase will earn 1 point per dollar.

I’m looking forward to earning 5x points on gas stations, drugstores, and Starbucks starting in January 2013!

You can apply for a Chase Freedom card here.
