We have been slowly accumulating miles
and points all year and now we have been redeeming them for free award travel.
On 8.5, I redeemed 50,000 American Airlines miles and $167.40
for 2
free flights from Okinawa home to Los Angeles. After counting the fees paid, we saved $1485.60.
On 8.3, I redeemed 40,000 Starpoints for a free
5 night stay in Tokyo Japan, worth $1047.45.
On 8.16, we redeemed 42,500 AAdvantage miles and $11.20 for
a free
round trip flight to Boston, giving us a savings of $543.80.
On 8.5, I redeemed 12,000 Starpoints and $220 with
SPG Cash & Points for discounted
hotel stay at the Boston Sheraton Hotel for my wife’s upcoming business
trip. This gives us a savings of
$486.
Cash Back
On 8.4, I received $9 PayPal deposit for cash back made
with my Paypal
Business Debit card.
On 8.6, my wife received a $25 cash back statement credit
on her Barclaycard
Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard, my current favorite cash back card.
On 8.12, I received a $25 cash back statement credit on my
Barclaycard Arrival Plus MasterCard.
On 8.19, I received a $48.70 cash back statement credit on
my Barclaycard Arrival Plus MasterCard.

On 8.6, I received a $5 Amazon gift card from Swagbucks

housemates for the new month’s pro-rated rent.
Monthly Totals:
August was yet another pretty productive side hustle month.
We saved $3,562.85 (after
fees) on travel by using our points and miles to book our travel.
We earned $107.70 from
credit card cash back
We earned $35 worth of Amazon gift certificates from Search
and Win sites
We earned $5 worth Amazon gift certificates and $18 cash from paid surveys
I earned $550 from my teaching side job.
We earned $850.79 from rental income from our two
housemates
All of this totals $5,129.34 from our side hustles for the month
of August, our new best month documented to date!
