Side hustles September 2019

The great thing about doing side hustles to generate extra income is that you can hustle on your own terms.  The more hard work, time, and creative effort you put in, the more extra money you can make.  You can hustle as little or as much as you want, whenever you want.  It’s your extra money, and you can choose how you want to spend it.  Instead of focusing on what ideas don’t apply to you, try focusing on different side hustle ideas that you can implement to work for your situation.

Once a month (usually on the 1st), I like to post a short summary of our personal and financial situation for the previous month.  While I don’t often post articles, I am committed to documenting all of my side hustle income.  Here I’ll share some of what’s been going on with our lives and our side hustles.

Welcome to October!  Did you have a good September?  Our days continue to be filled with spending as much quality time with the kids as possible.  The weather has been cooling down lately, so it’s been nice walking around our neighborhood.
Our kids are finally playing with each other a little bit more.

Our son loves jumping and playing at the Jumping Fun Kids indoor bounce house.  It’s one of our go to spots on the weekend.
When you have kids, there are endless amounts of birthday parties to attend.  Here is our daughter hitting her first piñata:
It’s always fun visiting the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach.  I’m really glad we have membership passes to the aquarium.  Our kids love to run around and see the different sea creatures.
As our kids are growing up, I’d rather focus more on them than worry about trying to hustle.  I always encourage younger individuals to start saving and investing as much as they can before starting a family.
Here’s our monthly summary of side income that we have generated in the previous month of September.
Rental Income
On 9.5, we received a net profit of $450 from our rental property.

Side Job Income
On 9.7, I received a direct deposit of $187.50 for teaching at the local university.

Survey Income
On 9.16, I received a $25 check from My Impact Network for completing a medical survey.

Miscellaneous Income
On 9.5, my wife and I both received a total of $200 for participating in an eye research study at the local optometry school.  This took about 45 minutes of our time, with the majority of the time being spent filling out consent forms.  The research basically involved having photographs of our eyes taken.

On 9.19, we recycled an older unused car seat at Walmart for their car seat recycling program.  In exchange for collecting the car seat, they gave us a $30 Walmart gift card.

Monthly Totals:
We earned $450 from rental income
I earned $187.50 from teaching at the local university
I earned $25 for completing online surveys
I earned $230 of miscellaneous income

All of this totals $892.50 from our side hustles for the month of September!  Not our best month, but we continue to work on bringing in extra income.
