The great thing about
doing side hustles to generate extra income is that you can hustle on your own
terms. The more hard work, time, and
creative effort you put in, the more extra money you can make. You can hustle as little or as much as you
want, whenever you want. It’s your extra
money, and you can choose how you want to spend it. Instead of focusing on what ideas don’t apply to you, try focusing
on different side hustle ideas that you can implement to work for your
situation.
Once a month (usually on the 1st), I like to post a short
summary of our financial and personal situation for the previous month
Welcome to July, did
everyone have a prosperous June?
On June 6th, our son turned 2 years old! He is growing so fast and is quite the rascal now. We celebrated our son’s second birthday by taking the day off and enjoying a family visit to the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. Our son absolutely loved to run around and see all of the sea creatures.
He was
especially excited to see “Dory” the blue tang (from Finding Nemo and Finding
Dory movies).
The price of admission for
2 adults after discount through work came out to be $43.96. It was great
visiting the aquarium on a weekday because it wasn’t very crowded.
In other exciting news,
we just found out that my wife is pregnant with our second child!
Baby number 2 is expected to join us this
upcoming December 2017. Three years ago,
I wrote a post
about my initial feelings about having a child.
I just re-read it and I still feel a similar amount of excitement and
anxiety. Having raised one child, I
definitely feel much more confidant about raising another one.
Since we don’t have
family living close by, we will have to raise our kids by ourselves. My wife will aim to take about 5-6 months off
work if possible. I will take the first
month off work as well to help raise our second child. Our son Benjamin really enjoys his
daycare. He’s been there since he was 6
months old, and now his brother or sister will be joining him.
Here’s our monthly summary of side income that
we have generated in the previous month of June.
Side Job
On 6.26, I received a
check for $325 for teaching at the
local university.
Rental Income
On 6.4, we received a net
profit of $430 from our rental
property.
Monthly Totals:
I earned $325 from my side job teaching at the local university
I earned $325 from my side job teaching at the local university
We earned $430
from rental income
All of this totals $755
from our side hustles for the month of June. While we didn’t bring in as much
side hustle income over this past month as we have in the past, an extra $755
is still nice to have. My side job
teaching continues to be very enjoyable and rewarding for me. I usually set aside 4 hours once or twice a
month to teach at the local university.
We
continue to save and invest much of our income as we strive to reach financial
freedom. With a second child on the way, we'll be ramping up the savings even more. Every dollar counts.
