June side hustles 2014

The great thing about doing side hustles to generate extra income is that you can hustle on your own terms.  The more hard work, time, and creative effort you put in, the more extra money you can make.  You can hustle as little or as much as you want, whenever you want.  It’s your extra money, and you can choose how you want to spend it.

These updates aren’t meant as “show off” or “bragging” posts.  These posts are to regularly document our progress.  Not all of the side hustles we do may be applicable to you.  Instead of focusing on what ideas don’t apply to you, try focusing on different side hustle ideas that you can implement to work for your situation.

While some of you may find inspiration in these side hustle posts.  Many others may see our side hustle income as small potatoes and chump change.

There are plenty of ways to make extra money on the side.  See this Lifehacker article for more ideas.

It’s the start of a fresh new month.  Here is our monthly summary of side income that we’ve generated last month in June:

Side Job
There have been some issues with payroll at the local university I teach at.  Now that these issues have been sorted out, I have been receiving compensation owed for teaching done months ago.  I’m still happy to have this side job and I really enjoy working with my students.
On 6.14, I received a $275 check from my side job teaching at a local university
On 6.21, I received a $412.50 check from the university
On 6.28, I received a $687.50 check from the university

Rental Income
Renting out rooms in our home has been a nice and passive way to earn extra income.  Currently we have one housemate staying for another month or two.  Our other temporary housemate left last month.
On 6.1, I received $550 rental income from one housemate.

Monthly Totals:
June was another productive side hustle month.
We earned $16.82 in cash back
We earned $30 worth of Amazon gift certificates from Search and Win sites
We earned $27 in cash from paid surveys
I earned $1,375 from my side job teaching students at a local university
We earned $550 from rental income from one housemate

All of this totals $1,998.82 from our side hustles for the month of June!  We’re saving most of it and putting it towards reaching financial freedom.
