March side hustles 2016

The great thing about doing side hustles to generate extra income is that you can hustle on your own terms.  The more hard work, time, and creative effort you put in, the more extra money you can make.  You can hustle as little or as much as you want, whenever you want.  It’s your extra money, and you can choose how you want to spend it.  Instead of focusing on what ideas don’t apply to you, try focusing on different side hustle ideas that you can implement to work for your situation.

Here’s our monthly summary of side income that we have generated in the previous month of March.

Award Travel
On 3.25, I redeemed 50,000 United Airlines miles and paid $11.20 towards two free one-way business class tickets from Virginia to Los Angeles for my sister in law and niece.  This saved us $410.80 towards airplane tickets.

Cash back
On 3.20, I received a $29.66 statement credit on my American Express Premier Rewards Gold from AMEX Offers (5% cash back on purchases over $100 at Home Depot – we bought a new water heater to replace our old one)
On 3.23, I received a $9.15 statement credit on my AMEX Gold card from AMEX Offers (5% cash back on purchases over $100 at Home Depot – bought plumbing parts to repair a leak and also a security light)

Search and Win
On 3.21, I received a $5 Amazon gift card from Swagbucks (500 points = $5 Amazon gift card)

Paid surveys
On 3.4, I received $5 Amazon gift card from Pinecone Research.
On 3.8, I received $5 Amazon gift card from Pinecone Research.
On 3.21, I received $5 Amazon gift card from Pinecone Research.
On 3.29, I received $5 Amazon gift card from Pinecone Research.
Each ~5 minute survey earns 300 points, and it takes 500 points to redeem for a $5 Amazon gift card.

Side Job
On 3.21, I received a check for $137.50 from the local university where I teach part time.
On 3.21, I received a check for $500 for consultation work on the side.

Rental Income
On 3.1, we received a net profit of $430 from our rental property. On 3.1, I received a check for $600 from our temporary housemate.

Miscellaneous Income
On 3.1, my wife received a $1.24 PayPal deposit from PalFish, a new small side hustle that she’s been working on.  You get paid for having conversations with individuals learning how to communicate in English.
On 3.6, I received a net profit of $25.27 from selling our old Roku 2 on eBay.  This net profit is after eBay fees, PayPal fees, and shipping fees. We received a Roku 4 as a gift and since we only have one television in our home, there was no need to keep the older Roku 2.  The new Roku 4 is so much faster and smoother than the previous model.
On 3.14, I received a net profit of $8.84 from selling a broken CD drive on ebay.
